1ère rangée: Jean-François Duckett, Danny Nichols, Bruno Lemieux, Mathieu Turcotte – 2e rangée: Rhéaume Gagnon, Laurent St-Pierre, Alexandre Guay, Yvon Lambert (Ancien Canadien), Maxime Beauchesne, Jean-Yves Beaudoin, Pierre-Marc Paquet, Marc-Olivier Gagnon

APRÈS:

Molstaches 2011 002

WOW …

Marvelous Movember

DSC02780

I know @MolsonTonia will do a more formal update BUT…30 days with an itchy upper lip is a mild inconvenience compared to the challenge that many men face in beating back cancer in their lives. Mo-Bros at Molson Coors in Canada stepped up this month in a big way. This awareness was also shared by a number of Mo-Sistas at Molson Coors in Canada who joined the campaign to raise awareness and funds during the month. We were also supported by the Rickard’s brand in raising public awareness for this important cause. All said and done the Molson Coors team can proudly shout out our achievement of raising over $184,000.00 to support Movember in Canada. Thanks to all of those colleagues, family, friends and business associates for taking the time to participate  and or cash from your pockets to make a difference. Cheers to making a difference in men’s health and to promoting active lifestyles. @MolsonFerg

How’s your Mo’gress?

We’re about halfway through Movember and we’re mo’ving along nicely!  We have almost 500 Molson Coors’ Mo Bros and Mo Sistas (plus a Mo Batman in the above photo, a.k.a Paul Rudge, Molson Coors employee in Toronto) and together, we have raised almost $100,000 to help change the face of men’s heath.

Lots of fun activities around the office to help raise money for our Mo team network.  Most recently, our Calgary sales team participated in a Celebrity themed Hollywood Glam Party (Willow Park Wine and Spirits Annual Charity Auction) and WON for best dressed = $10,000 donation to their Movember fundraising team! Amazing!

Congrats to Zach Best (dressed as Will Ferrell (Jackie Moon in Semi-Pro), Nick Cuvelier (dressed as Rickie Fowler), Reid Leiske (dressed as Ryan Seacrest), Jeff Weber (dressed as Justin Bieber) and Steve Redfern (dressed as Hulk Hogan). Well done boys!!! Also on hand from Molson Coors were two Lady Gaga’s and a stunning Marilyn Monroe.

So how’s your Mo’gress so far? We want to see photos! Post your mug to Rickard’s facebook page or join the Mo Duels – would love to see them!

Join Rickard’s this Movember: Grow a Mo. Challenge your friends. Support the cause.

We are very excited to officially announce that Rickard’s is a proud partner of Movember this year!  Starting November 1st, hundreds of Molson Coors employees will become Mo Bros and Mo Sista’s, raising awareness and funds for men’s health. You can support our employees or sign up yourself at http://ca.movember.com.

Still a week to go until the mo-growing begins and our employees have already raised over $14,000!

Are you participating this year?  Challenge your friends to a Mo-Duel! What team will you join… The White Walruses, The Blonde Handlebars, The Red Imperials or the Dark Chevrons??

About The Campaign

During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces, in Canada and around the world. With their “Mo’s”, these men raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer.

On Movember 1st, guys register at Movember.com with a clean-shaven face. For the rest of the month, these selfless and generous men, known as Mo Bros, groom, trim and wax their way into the annals of fine moustachery. Supported by the women in their lives, Mo Sistas, Movember Mo Bros raise funds by seeking out sponsorship for their Mo-growing efforts.

Mo Bros effectively become walking, talking billboards for the 30 days of November. Through their actions and words, they raise awareness by prompting private and public conversation around the often ignored issue of men’s health.

Raise a Pint of Glory 2009

Raise a Pint of Rickard's 09 - Launch event

L-R: Paul Lipson, Rickard’s brand, Adam Spence, Ontario Association of Food Banks, Traci Shepheard, Molson Coors Canada

Last week we launched the 5th annual Raise a Pint of Glory Campaign with the Firkin Group in support of the Ontario Association of Food Banks (OAFB).  We kicked off the five week campaign at the Owl and Firkin in Markham, ON, with representatives from the three campaign partners.

Raise a Pint of Glory is a wonderful opportunity for pub patrons to support Ontario’s food banks by purchasing a pint of Rickard’s. For every pint ‘raised’, both the Firkin Group and Molson Coors Canada will donate $0.25 to the OAFB with a goal of $20,000. Guests may also make non-perishable food donations at the 28 participating Firkin locations in Ontario.

Adam Spence, Executive Director of the OAFB noted that this has been one of the most difficult years on record for Ontario’s food banks.  375,000 people are forced to turn to food banks each month, and the majority of food banks rely on the generosity of community members during the fall and winter holiday seasons to keep food on their shelves throughout the year.

This is a really important campaign, so to help encourage folks to get out there and raise a pint, I’ll be prizing a $50.00 gift certificate to Firkin Pubs (thank you Firkin friends!) and Rickard’s beer merchandise one a week for the next four weeks.

CONTEST DETAILS – Week One

To enter for your chance to win a $50 Firkin Pub Gift Certificate this week (starting today, Monday, Nov. 30th), leave a comment on the blog telling us about how YOU raised a pint to support the OAFB or re-tweet this post on twitter including this link: http://bit.ly/65GbCa and @MolsonTonia.  I’ll draw the winner on Sunday afternoon (December 6th). Note: You must be legal drinking age to participate, no purchase necessary.

As the Firkin folks say… You’ll have a good Firkin time for a great Firkin cause…..thanks for supporting the Ontario Association of Food Banks.

Cheers!

Molson celebrates 50 years in Vancouver

Vancouver 50th Anniversary

Last week, I traveled to Vancouver with several colleagues (look for their Blog post soon about it) to take part in a series of events Molson organized for all our stakeholders to mark the 50th anniversary of Molson brewing presence in Vancouver. It is in 1958 that Molson acquired the Capilano Brewery from Sick’s Brewery. With this acquisition Molson, the oldest brewery in North America founded in 1786, established itself in Canada’s westernmost province truly becoming Canada’s brewery from coast-to-coast.

Kevin Boyce, Molson president and CEO and Geoff Molson, (a 7th generation direct descendant of founder John Molson) were also in Vancouver to celebrate this milestone.

Kevin Boyce and Geoff Molson

Kevin and Geoff
The Molson brewery is situated near Burrard Bridge in downtown Vancouver. It opened in 1953 as Sick’s Capilano Brewery, and Molson acquired it in 1958 in a transaction to purchase all of Western Canada’s breweries operated by Sick’s.

Vancouver 50th Anniversary

Molson recently completed a $32-million upgrade of the brewery, installing seven new fermentation tanks, a bottle washer and a bottling line. The expansion increased the production capacity by more than 40 per cent to 2.1 million hectoliters a year.
For this anniversary week Molson hosted events at the brewery to celebrate its presence in the city. The events where an occasion to meet & greet with Kevin Boyce, Geoff Molson, Gord Rickard’s and Vancouver brewmaster Kerry Scarsbrook as well as several other local members of the Vancouver brewery and sales team. Brewery tours were arranged for guests, members of the media and bloggers of the Vancouver scene. Culinary hors-d’oeuvres, and a special beer crafted especially for the occasion were served delighting everyone. The splendid weather, food and beers were enjoyed and will be remembered by all.

Cheers to Molson’s 50th in Vancouver!
