Power of the Hour Launch

Power of the Hour - Molson Coors Canada

Today @MolsonFerg and I attended the launch of GetInvolved.ca’s (an online social network for the socially conscious in Canada) Power of the  Hour campaign.  Along with 21 other Canadian Corporate companies, we announced the national volunteerism campaign with a goal to raise 2,000,000 volunteer hours in 2010.

CEO’s and senior executives representing the 22 member companies of the Corporate Council on Volunteering and non-profit partners announced the hours THEY are pledging this afternoon at the TMX broadcast Centre in Toronto – in total, Corporate Canada is pledging 814,900 hours!  Special thank you to the folks from Timeraiser/Framework Foundation for being Molson’s guests :)

Power of the Hour Launch 2010

Molson Coors Canada has pledged 6,000 hours this year which we plan to complete through our Corporate Volunteer Program (@MolsonFerg in the pic above)

The site:  Pretty cool social site that allows any individual, business or group to sign up and track their hours, adding photos and descriptions for every hour counted.  The running total of hours across Canada is always showing at the top of the site.

Other Features of the site:

  • Connects to twitter, facebook, youtube, etc.  so you can share your hours/activities with your networks and friends
  • Power Tools Page – resource for hour counters and change makers (find volunteer opportunities, student, non-profit and business tools, news)
  • Actions Page – you can check out what other ‘counters’ are up to and if you like what they’re doing, you can add their actions to your to-do list
