L to R: Ron McClendon, Edmonton Eskimos; Bryan Cox, Molson; Chad, Edmonton’s Food Bank; Brad Devarennes, Molson; Tom Gilbert, Edmonton Oilers
Although the weather outside was frigid, it was nice and warm inside the downtown Edmonton Hudsons location yesterday for the “Great Canadian Food Drive.” Brad Devarennes, Retail Sales Manager for Alberta, spearheaded this event for the second straight year in partnership with the Bear Radio Station and Hudsons Canadian Taphouse. From 11am-7pm, both food and cash donations for Edmonton’s Food Bank were accepted. As an added bonus, Tom Gilbert from the Edmonton Oilers and Ron McClendon from the Edmonton Eskimos, signed autographs for patrons.
Including Molson’s donation of $5,000, almost $7,000 was raised during the day - and an amazing 3,560 pounds of food was donated by generous Edmontonians. Truly, this event made a real difference for those in need.
Congratulations to the Molson Team and our partners for Playing Their Part!!

The Marketing, Sales and Distribution departments took the lead in Montreal and invited all of us to participate in a gift collection (with an approximate investment of $25 to $35 per gift) for a major food bank located on the South Shore of Montreal. The organization known as “Action Nouvelle Vie” was more than happy to receive and redistribute the gifts on behalf of Molson employees.

In addition, around 30 Molson employees volunteered on December 16 to help distribute the food items and gifts for kids.
Thanks to Mathieu Brochu, Louise Perron and Carole Reeves for their precious and invaluable leadership to put a smile in the hearts of numerous kids.
What a wonderful way to make a huge difference!

On Monday night @MolsonFerg and I attended #HoHoTo at the Mod Club in Toronto — an interactive holiday party for all the “geeks, phreaks, webheads, twitterfiends, techies, media, marketing, and PR types and all their friends” (hohoto.ca). Seeing that I consider myself one the these “types”, I bought my ticket early and eagerly anticipated a night of holiday cheer with good friends and new friends. Plus, a HUGE bonus to this event is that all proceeds from the ticket sales, raffle sales, photobooth, etc. go to The Daily Bread Food Bank!
During the week leading up to #hohoto, I had been mentioning it to people at Molson. To my delight, our Chief Legal and Public Affairs Officer, Scott Ewart, heard me go on (and on!) about #hohoto and wanted to help out. The goal of the campaign was to raise $25,000 (a challenge from Mayor David Miller), and just as Ferg and I were leaving the office for the Mod Club, Scott said that it would be tragic if the event was just short of the goal…so he gave us a license worth $2000 “if we needed it”. After a quick chat with the organizers the next morning, we topped up the total and #hohoto reached the goal! $25,000 to the Daily Bread Food Bank.

Bar skin - so cool (request a song via twitter)
Everything at #hohoto was interactive - it was streamed live to the web and displayed flickr photos, youtube videos and twitter posts. Tweets were posted on huge video screens at the club.

I had a great time at the event as did many others. Kudos to all the organizers and the attendees for their community and holiday (and party) spirits.
Molson…Proud to Play our Part. Cheers and Happy Holidays!

Mila Cormack and Tye Spicer preparing lunch

The Team
Congratulations to the Victoria sales team for taking the time to lend a hand at the Our Place Society, a homeless shelter and soup kitchen. Yesterday, Bryan Vermeeren, Tye Spicer, Mila Cormack and Chad Stewart prepared and served a hot turkey lunch to over 400 of Victoria’s homeless and marginalized citizens. This is yet another example of Molson staff taking the opportunity to Play Their Part by giving back. Way to go!!
