About Face…making a difference

AboutFace Golf Tournament

On August 12th, 2008 AboutFace held their annual golf tournament at Club Link’s Glencairn Golf Club and raised over $45,000 for Camp Trailblazers. This was my first exposure to this wonderful non profit group dedicated to making a real difference for young and old alike. Special thanks to Bruce Walker at Vincor for inviting Molson to get involved. Molson provided some golf balls for each foursome and entered a team to celebrate the great work conducted by About Face. Congratulations to the organizors and all who participated. Cheers.

Edmonton Molson House

A story emerged on CBC radio in Edmonton and in the Edmonton Journal this week referring to the future plans for Molson House in Edmonton on the site of the Molson Brewery. Molson Brewery in Edmonton closed in the summer of 2007 and the site sale is nearing completion with an interested purchaser. Molson House, located on the Brewery site in Edmonton has long been associated with various community festivals, events and special occasions. In fact it was at Molson House where the famous Wayne Gretzy trade to the Los Angelas Kings took place. in recent years there was a significant decline in the use of Molson House as more of our licensed establishment customers offered their failities for these hospitality events. If a community orgnization is interested in acquiring Molson House, Molson would be willing to donate the facility to the community group and the cost of moving would be the responsbility of the interested party. inquiries should be directed to  bryan.cox@molson.com.

6 days, 2 hours, 41 minutes to EARTH HOUR

It was really neat arriving home from March break and opening up an email from a neighbour inviting the family down the street for a neighbourhood celebration of Earth Hour next Saturday. My neighbour writes for the Toronto Star and I think it is great that employees at participating companies in Earth Hour are banding together to raise awareness on this important date. And as reported in The Toronto Star, Canada is leading the way.

Our family will be shutting down the power at our home and wandering down the street to join neighbours for a fondu dinner with an eventual trek over to the Leaside Bridge over the Don Valley to witness what we hope will be a visible change in the downtown Toronto skyline…lights off folks !

Our Molson breweries across the country will be focussed on energy savings initiatives.

What are you doing to raise awareness and participate in Earth Hour between 8 and 9pm on March 29th ?

Molson To Participate in EARTH HOUR March 29, 8-9pm

20080118-earth6021.jpg20080118-earth602.jpg20080118-earth602.jpg

When something as obviously great and inspiring as EARTH HOUR comes along, you just don’t need to think about it too long, or have a series of meetings and discussions about it. Earth Hour is a wonderful effort that started in Sydney Australia last year and is gaining momentum around the globe. Molson is Proud to Play our Part by taking a look across our brewery network in Canada in Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, Moncton and St. John’s. Our brewery managers are assessing what actions we can take on March 29th to raise awareness and make a difference in reducing energy use. Molson will also be encouraging our employees from coast to coast to consider what they can do personally on the evening of March 29th to raise awarnress in their communities and make a difference in having an effect on climate change. Jump on board !
