Molson in the Community

Saturday September 26th, 2009 saw the 30th year of the Melissa’s Road Race in Banff, Alberta – Over 4,200 participants ran either a 10kms or 22kms  race through the picturesque streets of Banff, with proceeds going to support the Banff Community Foundation.  Molson Coors was once again front and centre, with a couple of employees entering the race, as well as, providing  a $5,000 donation to the Foundation.

A few weeks ago, the Leucan Foundation held a ‘shaved head challenge’ to raise money and awareness for children who lose their hair when undergoing chemotherapy treatments. Leucan provides financial and moral support to the children affected by cancer and their families.

This year’s event was held at the Montreal Distribution Centre, and over 60 Molson employees took part (Molson’s second year participating). Four hairdressers worked for 10 hours straight to shave the Molson employees, and the event raised an astounding $61,000 — over five times the amount raised in 2007.

I have been told the challenge isn’t over! It goes until September, so you have lots of time to participate (and grow some hair back over the summer)!
