Molson’s Post Earth Hour 2009

Thought I’d share some photos and video from Earth Hour at Molson.  Coast to coast to coast, our breweries shut off all non-essential lights from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.  What did you end up doing during Earth Hour on Saturday night?

Molson Employees in Toronto were asked to fill out an Earth Hour checklist before they left the office on Friday afternoon.

Sebastien filled out his checklist and got a thumbs up from the task force.

I stopped in at WWF last week and interviewed Tara Wood, PR Manager at WWF Canada – she talks about how social media has made a big impact on this year’s campaign.

How are you spending Earth Hour?

Earth Hour is only a few days away, and we’re pretty much good to go at Molson.  We’ve got our Earth Hour task force ready to power down the office; we’ve planned a cold picnic lunch for tomorrow; and our breweries across Canada will be turning off all non-essential lights – we’re set!

What now?  Well, Molson wants to know how you plan to spend YOUR Earth Hour!

Some suggestions :)

At Molson we are proud to be actively engaged in raising awareness for our employees at all of our locations across the country and reaching out to the family, friends, neighbours, customers, beer drinkers and all Canadians to take action on March 28th.

Last year we had all of our operations take action to reduce energy, which actually resulted in some learning that helped us to change some of our practices to improve energy efficiencies. A simple action like turning off non essential lighting resulted in some powerful examples of how we can make a difference in energy conservation.

Molson salutes the folks at World Wildlife Fund for their continued efforts with Earth Hour and encourage our employees, customers, consumers, families, friends and neigbhours to rise up and get involved in this tremendous initiative on March 28th around the globe.

More to come…Cheers…@MolsonFerg

Cities in Canada already engaged include Toronto, Montreal, Halifax, Vancouver and Edmonton.

Molson asks: What are you doing for Earth Hour? Off to City Hall and Queen’s Park to find out

For the last couple days, Carole Berry (also a Molsonemployee) and I have been traveling around Toronto, asking our City Councillors, M.P.P.s, M.Ps, and the Deputy Mayor what their planning to do tonight for Earth Hour!

Our first stop was at City Hall in Toronto, where we met with Deputy Mayor of Toronto, Joe Pantalone, and City Councillor John Parker.

3 Days, 2 hours, 45 minutes to go!

The video posted above was created by Tenzing Interactive Marketing.  Thanks guys!

Earth Hour is just about here, and Molson is ready to go!  Nation-wide, our breweries and offices are shutting down their lights on Saturday from 8-9 p.m.

Here in Toronto, we’re planning some great things to get everyone involved and aware of how Molson is participating in Earth Hour.   On Friday, our cafeteria will be serving a Earth Hour Lunch! Only cold, raw food….and lights off (where safe, of course).  No power will be used to cook the lunch.

We have also created an Earth Hour ‘task force’ — a group of Molson volunteers will be going around the offices on Friday afternoon, making sure each office, desk, room, etc. is Earth Hour Certified.

What will you Earth Hour certify on Saturday?

Wait………make that 3 days, 2 hours, 39 minutes…..
