Molson Coors Canada is at it again, which isn’t surprising since we love to play our part wherever we can! I’m also ecstatic to be the one blogging about it, and you’ll see why:
On Otober 12th, the team in St John’s announced a 3-week hurricane Igor initiative to assist with relief and rebuilding efforts in the province. Molson Coors partnered with the Newfoundland Labrador Liquor Corporation (NLC), and will donate $0.50 for every 6-pack of Molson Canadian or Coors Light sold to the Canadian Red Cross.
“At Molson Coors Canada, we believe in supporting the communities in which we work and live,” explains Brian Harriman, Vice-President Market Development, Atlantic, Molson Coors Canada. “We hope to see this program help provide community members with relief support and also provide funding to restore recreational facilities that were damaged during the Hurricane.”
Feeling charitable? We’d love for fellow Canadians to help play their part too. Canadians wishing to make a financial donation to Hurricane Igor Relief may give online, call 1-800-418-1111, or contact their local Canadian Red Cross office. Cheques payable to the Canadian Red Cross and earmarked “Hurricane Igor Response” can also be mailed to the Canadian Red Cross, Donation Processing Centre, PO Box 39, Saint John, NB, E2L 3X3.
The Banff Community Foundation received a cheque for $5000 from Molson Coors Canada on Melissa’s Road Race day, September 25th. Melissa’s Road Race has selected the Foundation as it’s charity of choice for the fifth year. This gift will help the Foundation support other charities, thereby improving the quality of life for Banff National Park Communities – now & forever.

Those three words are like cracking open a fresh cold refreshing beer after a long action orientied day of winter holiday fun and enjoyment. To hear the words “Happy New Year” is symbolic of starting anew, looking to the twelve months that lay ahead, putting the previous year into the archives. And what a year we have ahead at Molson Coors Canada. Within weeks we will join our colleagues in British Columbia, on the ground in Vancouver doing the final set up after months of preparation for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. Molson Canadian, Coors Light and Molson Export are the official beers of the games…that’s pretty exciting for all of us at Molson Coors and we hope that it will be as exciting for our beer drinkers from coast to coast to coast, our customers, families and friends. Between celebrations and activities at Molson Canadian Hockey House and The Coors Light Hillside Chalet in Whistler…beer drinkers will be sure to enjoy the games with us as they tap into coverage across this great land. As part of our commitment to the games we have worked hard at the Molson Coors brewery in Vancouver to pay attention to our sustainability agenda. We are so proud to have achieved a Sustainability Star. We have also collaborated with the Four Host First Nations and VANOC to create a commemorative lapel pin with the intent of raising $50,000 to initiative the Vancouver 2010 Aboriginal Youth Legacy Program. Through Molson Canadian and Molson Export Fund A Champion Campaigns we have raised $200,000 in support of ten Olympic and Paralympic aspirigin athletes who represent all regions of the country. We are also delighted that Jennifer Botterill from Canada’s Womens’ hockey team, joined the Molson Coors team to help support us in spreading the message for Responsible Choices throughout the year. Yes…2010 is going to be one terrific year and we look forward to raising a glass to the world as Canada celebrates bringing the games to Vancouver British Columbia in 2010. Best wishes to all for an awesome 2010. Molson Coors looks forward to delivering some amazing programs with our exciting portfolio of brands in Canada and all while continuing to engage in the greater community in which we live work and play. We look forward to connecting with you through this community blog and on Twitter and our brand Facebook pages. Cheers ! @MolsonFerg
Last night was Molson’s first ever Brew 2.0 event!!!
About 20 or so 2.0-savvy folks joined Molson and the Brew 2.0 team at the ACC in the Lord Stanley’s Mug for few hours of minglin’, food and beer tasting, and a little brew education. With a killer line-up of different foods paired with different beers — Molson Canadian, Coors Light, Corona, Rickard’s White, Rickard’s Red and Creemore – the guests were given a little history about the beer and why it was paired with certain foods. Me, the vegetarian, watched from a far….man those mini burgers looked good
Brew masters Ian Douglass and Bryan Eagan led ‘brewing and beer school’ while Draught Prophets’ pro, Steve Reilley, gave a great presentation – draught education. Who knew a clean glass was so important?
Thanks to all who came out — and a special thanks to Joey deVilla, a.k.a. accordionguy who serenaded the group!
Curious to know — which food + beer pair was your fav.?
More photos along with some video coming next week!
Happy long weekend everyone
