Brew 2.0 Visits Vancouver

Brew 2.0 Vancouver

On Tuesday evening, Molson invited some of Vancouver’s finest social media folks to an evening at our house — the Molson Brewery on Burrard St. in Vancouver. The event, Brew 2.0 Vancouver-style, was a smashing success (in my opinion), as the 35 or so guests joined our Molson crew in the pub for some bevies, chats, AMAZING food and a little info session about Molson and our beer.

The guests arrived around 6:00 p.m. and we started the night with a quick intro from one of the event organizers and Molson’s PR manager, Adam Moffat (@moffat).  Adam welcomed everyone and went through the agenda for the night which included a beer and food pairing session with Molson Brewmaster Kerry Scarsbrook and Executive Chef at the Pan Pacific, Blair Rasmussen, a brewery tour and a meeting with our special guests of honour — Geoff Molson (7th generation Molson) and Gord Rickards (creator of Rickard’s beer).

If beer and food wasn’t enough entertainment, Mr. Neil Harnett serenaded us for the whole evening with some tunes.  Thanks Neil — you were fantastic, and I caught you on video!

At the end of the evening, after the eats and tours, we had a surprise treat for everyone — tasting a new beer crafted by Kerry for the Vancouver Brewery’s 50th Anniversary (which was also this week…blog post to come soon!) — Rickard’s Gold Standard.  Mmmm…. tasty.

This was the second Brew 2.0 event that we have held, the first one was in Toronto in June.  It was so nice to meet everyone offline, have a pint together and just have a great time.

Thanks to everyone who helped make Brew 2.0 an incredible evening and to our gusts who added their thoughts: Raul, Danny, Tris, Tanya, Rebecca, Ryan, Corey, Arieanna

Special thanks to Geoff, Kerry and Gord for hanging out with us bloggers all night!

Here are some of my photos…more to come still.

How about some Brew 2.0?

Brew 2.0 004

Last night was Molson’s first ever Brew 2.0 event!!!

About 20 or so 2.0-savvy folks joined Molson and the Brew 2.0 team at the ACC in the Lord Stanley’s Mug for few hours of minglin’, food and beer tasting, and a little brew education.  With a killer line-up of different foods paired with different beers — Molson Canadian, Coors Light, Corona, Rickard’s White, Rickard’s Red and Creemore – the guests were given a little history about the beer and why it was paired with certain foods.  Me, the vegetarian, watched from a far….man those mini burgers looked good :)

Brew masters Ian Douglass and Bryan Eagan led ‘brewing and beer school’ while Draught Prophets’ pro, Steve Reilley, gave a great presentation – draught education.  Who knew a clean glass was so important?

The evening ended with some innovative products, featuring Heineken’s 5L Draught Keg, the Coors Light Cold Certified Bottle, AND a sneak preview of upcoming Kasteel Cru, a champagne-yeast, lager.

Thanks to all who came out — and a special thanks to Joey deVilla, a.k.a. accordionguy who serenaded the group!

Curious to know — which food + beer pair was your fav.?
