This year’s Hockey for the Homeless event in Vancouver was terrific. Given it was the 2nd year, it was clear the level of energy and excitement around the day was excellent and all the participants seemed pumped to be out playing some shinny for a great cause.
We were able to have one of best customers, Bill Anderson, from the UBC Alma Mater Society, participate on Molson Coors’ behalf. Being a hockey enthusiast, he was absolutely thrilled to be in the same games as such great former NHLer’s like Garth Butcher,Gary Valk and Kirk McLean.
Given Molson Coors’ strong ties to hockey, this is an event we should look to support on an ongoing basis. Cheers, Darren
Thank you for sharing Darren! Below is a brief history on “Hockey for the Homeless”.
Hockey for the Homeless as established in Toronto in 1996.
Tournaments are held in five cities across Canada; Calgary, Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver.
Since the first event in 1996, the organization has raised over $2,000,000 in support for over 15,000 homeless men, women and children across Canada.

Tuesday night’s hockey game at the ACC in Toronto was presentation night for February’s Molson Canadian Cup in partnership with the Team Up Foundation. The winning hard-working Leafs player was….. JS Giguere (congrats!) and the charity recipient of a $1000 donation was a great organization called Boundless Adventures.
This Molson Canadian Cup a was little extra special due to a collaboration between Molson Coors, Boundless and the innovative awareness and fundraising organization, 12for12k. 12for12k uses the power and outreach of social media to spread the word about multiple charitable organizations. From Twitter to Facebook, blogs to social media newsrooms and more, the 12for12k challenge helps supported charities connect with as wide an audience as possible. So, that being said, 12for12k’s official charity for March is Boundless, and the $1000 donation on Tuesday night was a great kick-off to the month of fundraising.
Molson Coors Canada has partnered with Boundless for many years. Boundless is dedicated to improving the lives of marginalized youth, adults and children at risk through a unique combination of counselling, social rehabilitation, alternative education and outdoor adventure. Learn more

P.S. If you were at the game/saw the game Tuesday eve – awesome eh? 3-3 in overtime and then a sweet goal from Kulemin for the win! Go Leafs Go

By partnering with Power 97, Winnipeg’s number one rock station, we received air time for 3 weeks leading up to the 5th Annual Hockey Day in the Winnipeg Sponge Hockey tournament.
The sold out tournament is a day filled with hockey action and delicious Molson Canadian Lager sold in the beer garden located in the Melrose Community Centre
Not only did we raise money through beer garden sales, additional dollars were raised through 50/50 draws, and sponge hockey team’s registration fee; Molson MDF also donated $2,500 to Winnipeg Harvest. A total of $6,670 was raised for the Winnipeg Harvest Food Bank!
The Molson Canadian Sponge Hockey tournament after party took place down the street at the Henderson Draft House where we announced the winning teams and awarded prizes. All in all a great Canadian Day!! See below for some highlights from PowerTV. Cheers Tracey and MolsonCaroleB
