Molson Coors Volunteer Program in Regina, SK

Last week a group of Molson Coors employees (in above photo) volunteered at the 36th annual Telemiracle in Regina Saskatchewan. The event, often referred to by the community as “Saskachewan’s charity” is lead by the Kinsmen & Kinettes of SK and all the funds raised stay in the province.  It’s the largest and longest running Telethon charity in Canada.  This year, our team of volunteers answered phones and took donations for three hours to help raise over $5.9 million (record).  After the fundraising, our team ensured all the volunteers enjoyed an ice cold beer to celebrate the successful initiative.  Thanks to Mike Tate, Sales Manager, SK for leading this volunteer opportunity!  Cheers.

Raising a pint (or bottle) for a Firkin good cause

We’ve launched our annual holiday campaign with The Firkin Group of Pubs, partnering with the student-founded and youth driven charity, Meal Exchange. Throughout the month of December, Ontario pub patrons can support Meal Exchange by purchasing a Molson Canadian or Molson Canadian 67/Sublime at any of the participating Firkin Pub locations across Ontario. For every pint or bottle “raised”, The Firkin Group of Pubs and Molson Coors Canada will each donate $0.25 to Meal Exchange.

This is the seventh year of the campaign which has raised over $125,000 dollars. These funds have supported local food banks in Ontario and funded public education programs on food security. With 31 pubs participating this year, our fundraising goal is set at $18,000.

One in eight Ontario households lack the physical and economic means to access sufficient, safe and nutritious food. While over 395,106 turn to a food bank each month for assistance, many more sacrifice their diets in other ways in order to make ends meet.

“Meal Exchange’s founding program made it easy for people to help alleviate hunger while dining on campus,” says Dave Kranenburg, Executive Director, Meal Exchange. “This campaign brings this same idea to life in the community and the money it generates will allow us to feed people today and increase their access to healthy food year-round.”

Student volunteers from Meal Exchange will be visiting the participating pubs during the campaign to speak with the Firkin staff about the important work Meal Exchange does to address food insecurity.

“Meal Exchange representatives visiting our pubs is a great way to increase awareness of the campaign as well as ensure our teams understand how their hard work during a very busy season can make a difference in local communities,” says Larry Isaacs, Director of Marketing, The Firkin Group of Pubs.

Pub patrons can support the fundraising campaign now until Dec 31st, 2011. To find a pub near you: http://www.firkinpubs.com/

Cheers!

Marvelous Movember

DSC02780

I know @MolsonTonia will do a more formal update BUT…30 days with an itchy upper lip is a mild inconvenience compared to the challenge that many men face in beating back cancer in their lives. Mo-Bros at Molson Coors in Canada stepped up this month in a big way. This awareness was also shared by a number of Mo-Sistas at Molson Coors in Canada who joined the campaign to raise awareness and funds during the month. We were also supported by the Rickard’s brand in raising public awareness for this important cause. All said and done the Molson Coors team can proudly shout out our achievement of raising over $184,000.00 to support Movember in Canada. Thanks to all of those colleagues, family, friends and business associates for taking the time to participate  and or cash from your pockets to make a difference. Cheers to making a difference in men’s health and to promoting active lifestyles. @MolsonFerg

How’s your Mo’gress?

We’re about halfway through Movember and we’re mo’ving along nicely!  We have almost 500 Molson Coors’ Mo Bros and Mo Sistas (plus a Mo Batman in the above photo, a.k.a Paul Rudge, Molson Coors employee in Toronto) and together, we have raised almost $100,000 to help change the face of men’s heath.

Lots of fun activities around the office to help raise money for our Mo team network.  Most recently, our Calgary sales team participated in a Celebrity themed Hollywood Glam Party (Willow Park Wine and Spirits Annual Charity Auction) and WON for best dressed = $10,000 donation to their Movember fundraising team! Amazing!

Congrats to Zach Best (dressed as Will Ferrell (Jackie Moon in Semi-Pro), Nick Cuvelier (dressed as Rickie Fowler), Reid Leiske (dressed as Ryan Seacrest), Jeff Weber (dressed as Justin Bieber) and Steve Redfern (dressed as Hulk Hogan). Well done boys!!! Also on hand from Molson Coors were two Lady Gaga’s and a stunning Marilyn Monroe.

So how’s your Mo’gress so far? We want to see photos! Post your mug to Rickard’s facebook page or join the Mo Duels – would love to see them!

Hockey + Supporting Canadian Food Banks = Five Hole for Food

Richard Loat, Founder of Five Hole for Food (L), with John Buckley (C), Brewery Manager, Molson Coors Canada and Victor Lo, Five Hole for Food (R) at the Molson Coors Canada Brewery in St. John’s Newfoundland.

The Five Hole for Food crew have hit the road again for their second annual coast to coast tour playing hockey to support local food banks across Canada.

This hockey loving team found a way to combine their passion for the game with ‘doing good’ by setting up rinks in the heart of 13 cities across Canada and inviting anyone and everyone to come out to play road hockey to fight hunger.  All you have to do is bring your stick, a can of food (or monetary donations), and have fun. 100% of the proceeds go to a local food bank in each city.

Molson Canadian is proud to be the presenting sponsor of Five Hole for Food, and we hope you’ll drop by at the event nearest you. Cheers!
