Yup, this Saturday, August 7th is National BBQ Day, and the national, youth-led charity Meal Exchange is inviting Canadians to take part in the yummy day while also fighting hunger in Canada.
What’s the ask? It’s simple:
Register & host your own backyard BBQ for friends, family and neighbors to raise awareness about Canada’s hunger problems.
Meal Exchange believes that everyone in Canada should have access to sufficient, nutritious, and culturally acceptable food in order to maintain a healthy & active life. Did you know that 2.7 million Canadians don’t know where their next meal is coming from?
How to participate (and a change to win 2 WestJet tickets!):
- Register your BBQ at http://nationalbbqday.eventbrite.com/ and send Meal Exchange a photo of your BBQ’ing fun to nationalBBQday@mealexchange.com
- You can also tweet about your BBQ fun using hashtag – #nationalBBQday
Registration is FREE, but here’s some food for thought: it takes only $28 for Meal Exchange to empower one youth to take action against hunger in their community. Donate here to help Meal Exchange support youth across Canada.
So this pretty much sounds like the perfect day to me – BBQ, a case of Rickard’s beer (taster’s pack – Red, White and Dark of course) and raising awareness about hunger.
Will you be participating? Have a BBQ/grilling recipe worthy of National BBQ Day!

News from the Deep South in the Windsor/Essex area of Ontario. A couple weeks ago Molson Coors Canada was the proud beer sponsor of the International Dragon Boats for the Cure event held yearly at Tecumseh’s Waterfront Park. Over 150 teams of 20 rowers paddled to raise funds for local hospitals to fight cancer. The Festival has donated over $1.3 Million since it began 7 years ago!
Molson’s sales rep for the area was also on hand to present a $5,000 donation from the Molson Coors Donations Fund which supported the construction of a Memorial Dragon (above) in Tecumseh’s Memorial Park.
Festival Organizers Beth Noakes and Gerry Orum with Molson Coors Canada territory rep Walter Hanson.
Total funds raised from this year’s festival are still being tallied. Will update when we get the numbers. Cheers!

C’est avec beaucoup d’honneur que j’ai accepté, au nom de Molson Coors, la présidence d’honneur des Mardis cyclistes de Lachine présenté par Saputo, pour la saison estivale 2010.
What an honor it is for me to represent Molson Coors as Honorary President of “Mardis cyclistes de Lachine”, a weekly competition to be deployed in the heart of Lachine, every Tuesday of the 2010 Summer (with the exception of July 20). I invite members of the population to enjoy and appreciate with their families and friends, one or more of the 10 races to take place within the next couple of months. What a great team surrounding the President-Founder of the event, Mr. Tino Joseph Rossi, since 1978. An event not to be missed! The finale will take place on Tuesday, August 17 … I am looking forward to enjoying the event, along with one of our cold Molson Coors !!! A Molson M perhaps ?!
