Sales Rep, Ed McGurry and P&E Manager, Tracey Winch, along with the ever popular Molson Canadian Extreme Team, connect Molson Canadian to Hockey in the COMMUNITY raising money for the Winnipeg Harvest Food Bank.
By partnering with Power 97, Winnipeg’s number one rock station, we received air time for 3 weeks leading up to the 5th Annual Hockey Day in the Winnipeg Sponge Hockey tournament.
The sold out tournament is a day filled with hockey action and delicious Molson Canadian Lager sold in the beer garden located in the Melrose Community Centre
Not only did we raise money through beer garden sales, additional dollars were raised through 50/50 draws, and sponge hockey team’s registration fee; Molson MDF also donated $2,500 to Winnipeg Harvest. A total of $6,670 was raised for the Winnipeg Harvest Food Bank!
The Molson Canadian Sponge Hockey tournament after party took place down the street at the Henderson Draft House where we announced the winning teams and awarded prizes. All in all a great Canadian Day!! See below for some highlights from PowerTV. Cheers Tracey and MolsonCaroleB
I arrived in Vancouver yesterday, and it feels a little calmer than what I had expected, no major traffic jams to get downtown, or massive crowds on the streets. It is truly the “calm before the storm” feeling. I say that because you can see lots of visitors, media from around the world and their camera crews, you see the official VANOC vehicles roaming the streets. While it seems calm I sense the excitement and the trepidation of everyone I’ve met so far since I got here…the city is ready. Vancouverites are happy and it shows in their display of hospitality everywhere, it will be without a doubt an exciting few weeks! And we want to bring you a piece of it by giving you an inside look at “our” Games.
As the official beer supplier of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games, Molson Coors and our brands will be under the spotlight at the 2010 Winter Games, and our “Roving Reporter” employees will be bringing you the hottest news direct from Vancouver the site of the world’s most prestigious winter sports competition. You won’t see the sporting events highlight, we leave that to the partner networks, what our employee will be sharing is their insight on our Molson Coors Games. You’ ll see what we do to support our customers, brands and retail events, some of the action at the Molson Canadian Hockey House, our VIP gatherings and receptions at our Vancouver Brewery. The Dispatches will also bring you exclusive interviews with our Molson Canadian/Export Fund Champion athletes, and much, much more. Don’t miss the Dispatches! Every weekday, beginning on Thursday Feb 11, 2010.
Oh yes, if there’s anything you’d like us to report on about “our” games, sort of a special request, please let me or any of us on the team know and we’ll do our best to bring it to you.
A behind the scenes blog – new bike lockers at the Molson Coors Kitsilano Brewery on Burrard St. in Vancouver! Thanks to David Tolnai, Operations for Molson Coors Canada in Vancouver for the update. Cheers, MolsonTonia
Molson Coors Vancouver Brewery’s new Bike Lockers
For four, heck, maybe even five months of the year, Vancouver is one of the nicest cities in Canada for bike riding. For the rest of the year it’s a nightmare, but during those five months riding a bicycle in Vancouver is pretty great. Unless you have to ride through downtown…or you want to run errands on the way home and need to lock your bike up outside of a store…or you don’t own lights…or you just don’t like getting wet!
Anyhow, riding a bicycle to work is a great way to get in shape and reduce the old carbon footprint. But making the decision to ride a bike to work isn’t easy and there are thousands of excuses holding people back from making the leap.
One excuse preventing Molson Coors employees from riding their bikes to work was the lack of appropriate bike storage facilities. In the past, there have been bikes locked to fences or stashed in stairwells, utility rooms and offices. None of these are ideal.
I’m happy to report that the Vancouver Brewery finally has a safe, clean, dry place to store bikes. A series of six double-sided bike storage lockers will store a total of twelve bicycles inside the gates at the brewery, out of the rain. Each locker will be assigned to a commuter and hopefully once springtime hits the demand will be great enough that we will be forced to buy more lockers.

Thanks Sagree for sharing the day with us! Cheers, CaroleB
Calgary employees built on Molson Coors tradition of being Proud to Play Our Part in our community on Friday, Jan 15th. We spent a total of 75 volunteer hours at the Calgary Inter-Faith Food Bank, processed 10 700lbs of food, packed 301 emergency hampers and touched the lives of 763 people.
The Calgary Food Bank is experiencing the greatest increase in demand in its history, up 40 per cent this year due to the economic downturn. But staff remains confident the charity can meet this growing need for food, thanks to your our continued support. For every $1 donated, the Food Bank can distribute $4 of food and Molson Coors helped distribute $20 000,00 of food.
