Take a “gander” at Community Cheer in the Land of the GooseShare Tweet
Wawa is Ojibway for “Wild Goose” and the town’s famous Canada Goose has welcomed many travellers at the intersection of the TransCanada Highway and Highway 101 for over 50 years. Last month, the Wawa community got together with Molson Coors for the official cheque presentation of $75,000 from Community Cheer.
The small community of 3,000 people rallied its members and racked up an astounding number of cheers for their project to renovate the Michipicoten Memorial Community Centre. “To know that 867 cheers came from Wawa, is a great testament to the enthusiasm that the people of Wawa have,” said Molson Coors Canada Sales Representative, Dave White.
“Some days, I am just in awe of the passion, dedication and enthusiasm of the volunteers who really put their heart and soul into making this place have recreational opportunities for both our youth and adults in this community,” says Lori Johnson, Wawa Community Services & Tourism Director.
It was a wonderful celebration for a great project! We here at Molson Coors are definitely looking forward to seeing the positive impact the community centre renovations will bring to the entire community. Here’s to the Land of the Goose!
