Dryden’s ‘Light Our Ball Diamonds’ project has been lit

The Dryden Ball Diamonds Committee has big plans for baseball, and they are recently in the works of getting Phase Three of a four-stage project completed which will see the revamp of the Sandy Beach Ball Diamonds Complex in Ontario. The initiative was dubbed “Light Our Ball Diamonds” and involves development of a pavilion, adding lights to the facilities and installing new bleacher systems.

To celebrate the funding announcements, the group held a quick baseball game then shared a beer and held a wonderful party at the complex. The committee is also hosting the Molson Coors “Victory Season” Mixed Slo-Pitch Tournament on June 22nd – 24th in which 16 teams will slug it out for the title.

The $75,000 Molson Coors Community Cheer grant helped fund the development of the lighting systems for all four baseball diamonds and construction of a two-storey pavilion equipped with a viewing deck. Phase Three involves installation of new bleachers which is scheduled to be completed for this summer.

The Sandy Beach Ball Diamonds host local leagues and inter-provincial tournaments, and its facility will also be used as a social hub for other community functions including their annual night cancer walks, concerts and flea markets. Cheers to a wonderful project that will be sure to bring their community closer together through active living!
