HoHoTo for Toronto’s Daily Bread Food BankShare Tweet
Social media enthusiasts and friends will come together tonight for the third #HoHoTo event at the Mod Club on College Street. It all started in 2008 when a group of friends started talking on Twitter about the plight of the hungry in Toronto. It has grown into a terrific catalyst for raising awareness about the Toronto Daily Food Bank and really making a difference for those in need. The event has raised more than $80,000 and collected around four tons of food for the hungry.
Some facts about Toronto and the Daily Bread Food Bank:
- In Toronto, people just like you made more than a million visits to food banks last year.
- Food bank use is growing – up 15% nationally in 2010 over 2009.
- More than 34% of the people relying on food banks in the GTA are children
- The median monthly household income in Toronto is only $1,000.
