Volunteering a Moncton Headstart
Share TweetEarlier this month the NB/PEI sales and marketing team spent some time volunteering at Moncton Headstart. Headstart is a charitable non-profit early family intervention agency focused on building school readiness skills with children and their parents. Programs and services aim to build healthy relationships, improve self-esteem, develop new skills, enhance existing skills, and encourage self-sufficiency Our Molson team spent time in the kitchen preparing snack for the pre-school program and then lunch for the staff, parents and volunteers. The Molson volunteers built story sacks with a group of parents who’s children attend Headstart.
Story Sacks are built to encourage parents and children to read and enjoy books and activities together. A book is selected and developmentally appropriate activities are built around the story. It is vitally important that children are read to each day and building and using story sacks are just one way to support this to happen.
The parents at the centre were keen to build story sacks and, with our help they were able to make it happen!
