Molson Coors volunteers in action – Montreal Park Clean up with 350 employees
If you flip (I mean click, haha) back over the last month on this blog, you’ll see story after story with rich photos and video covering 20+ events with employees in Canada volunteering in an initiative we call ‘Month of Action’. One month of the year focused on volunteering and giving back in the communities where we live and do business in.
I’ve been in the community relations role at Molson Coors for about a year and half now, and I can honestly say that this month was the most inspirational (and busiest!) to date. April Month of Action saw 1000 employees complete 3700 hours of volunteering with 34 charitable/community organizations in every province of Canada. This is huge – in just one month, our employees completed 98% of the total hours contributed in all of 2009. WOW.
I could list all of the organizations we spent time with during April, but just take a look back through the blog posts and the 200 + photos on flickr, and you’ll see where we were and who we helped. I was lucky enough to get to many of the Ontario events to take photos and volunteer with the different teams = the MOST volunteering I’ve ever done, and some of the most fun I’ve ever had.
In a wrap of April Month of Action (which is a global initiative, the U.K and U.S business units were also spending their time volunteering…stay tuned for global results), we did have one final event that happened last week. Our SouthWest sales team volunteered with Jesse’s Journey – serving lunch to those who participating in the Fundraising ‘Walk Across Canada in a Day’ for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Photo of the great looking team below. Cheers guys!
Curious to know what YOU think of volunteering – do you volunteer on your personal time? Does your company have a volunteering program that allows you to give back during work hours? Or would you rather make a monetary donation? Is it a combination of the two?
