Lending an employee to United Way
Share TweetMolson has been a proud supporter of the United Way for many years, particularly through our corporate fundraising campaign each fall. This year we are participating in the United Way’s Sponsored Employee Program – a current employee is ‘sponsored’ by Molson to work for the United Way for 15 weeks. The loaned employee helps with the United Way’s annual workplace campaign on a full-time basis while their salary and benefits remain the same as if they were at work in their regular function at Molson.
This year, Molson is so pleased to sponsor Susan Perdue, a packaging operator from the Toronto Brewery. She will be off to the United Way at the beginning of September for 15 weeks! Congrats Sue – can wait to hear about your time there.
I love this program and will definitely consider it for next year. Would it be something you would do?

August 5th, 2009 at 10:22 amI think this is a great way for corporations to lend a hand (literally) to the United Way. While it does have some obvious costs, the benefits of corporate citizenship are real. From a pure business perspective, this type of “donation” should provide more publicity and ROI than a strictly cash donation, while also promoting “giving back” as an integral part of the corporate culture.

August 5th, 2009 at 10:36 amCongratulation Sue ! I love this program – it’s such a great way to give back to our community and really make a difference! It’s also a great way to give employees who participate in the program the chance to develop different skills in a totally new environment. Have a great time Sue!

August 5th, 2009 at 9:23 pmThis is such an awesome idea…no better way to get people engaged and motivated than having them participate in a benevolent experience. I truly feel that the more things like this we participate in, the more productive we are in all areas of our professional and personal lives. As the saying goes, you want something done…give it to a busy person!
