As another long weekend approaches, say Yay to Sun and Nay to Rain! As you are out and about or just chillin’ while you’re grilling, remember to drink responsibly. At Molson we not only encourage responsible drinking, we celebrate it and recognize the good choices that take place every day. With the 2010 Olympic games around the corner we have partnered with Jennifer Botterill, member of Canada’s National Women’s Hockey Team.
Take a look at Jennifer’s video above to help us celebrate Responsible Choices … Thanks Jennifer. Cheers.
On vacation in the summer in Canada at the cottage (or as we say in Kenora “camp” and as you say in the west “cabin”) is certainly a great Canadian tradition. Another great Canadian tradition is the community festival. Community festivals stretch across this great land from coast to coast to the arctic. In 25 years at Molson I’ve seen a lot of events ranging from the Molson Canadian Rocks Toronto event at the time of SARS to Saint Joe’s Island with Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, to the London Rocks Music Festivals over the years, the CNE Bandstand, Molson Park Edgefests to the Copper Kettle Festival in Creemore Ontario. The George Street Festival in Newfoundland is iconic, as is the Stampede in Calgary.
Hey, with the weather we’ve had this summer at the lake, I needed to be pre-occupied ! So this little grassroots Music Festival is going to take to the stage August 9th from 2-6. More details can be found at our Facebook Event page. If you’re in Kenora or passing through, drop on over to Coney Island. Cheers @MolsonFerg
Last weekend was Rock Weekend at Bayfest 2009 in Sarnia, ON, and WOW, what a show. I was there on the Saturday night and got to see See Spot Run, Our Lady Peace and Stone Temple Pilots. Friday night’s headliner was Kiss and I hear it was awesome! Just a few days ago was Country Weekend — featuring performances from Tim McGraw and Brad Paisley among others.
What was so special about this year’s event (in addition to the amazing performances, cold beer and sunshine)? Well, this year was the first of Bayfest’s five-year goal of becoming a near zero-waste festival. They plan to reduce waste by 20 per cent every year.
A good amount of waste created during Bayfest can be because of empty beer cups, so Molson helped to reduce that waste by making our No 1 recyclable polyethylene (PET) plastic beer cups available for the first time at this event. With the fest now over, the cups are being taken to a municipal recycling facility to be sorted and then recycled into various items.

As an industry leader, it’s very important that we set an example to reduce our environmental footprint. Eager to do our part, working with Bayfest this year to reduce beer cup waste is just one of many initiatives Molson is embarking upon. Just today, Molson Coors announced a collaboration between Molson Coors and Circle of Blue, an international non-profit organization that will help engage consumers, decision makers, and all of us with stories and information about water issues around the world and in our hometowns.
I found the John Molson trailer!
Way to go everyone who had a part in planning Bayfest this year – awesome job….still rocking out to Stone Temple Pilots! Fantastic shots of the whole festival on the Bayfest website.
If you were there, hope you had a great time. If you weren’t – see you in 2010! Cheers, @MolsonTonia

The folks at Huron University College are a terrific bunch and I always look forward to speaking with them regarding their annual Charity Tournament to raise funds for the Huron’s Community Based Learning Program. This year the Huron Golf Classic was able to raise over $50,000, a record high for the day. This support helps provide the Huron students opportunities to combine academic study with hands – on volunteer experience. I truly believe there is no better way to learn than through day to day, face to face activities.
For more information on this wonderful program please visit www.huronuc.on.ca.
I am looking forward to your 30th annual tournament being held in June 2010. Kudos to all of you!
