Last Wednesday Tonia, Ian and I hoofed it down to the TSX Centre for their Open House. We sampled Rickards White and answered any questions that arose. Ian was brilliant, had an answer for everything, Tonia and I handed out our Here’s to Responsible Choices glo sticks and chatted with guests. It was a great evening!!!

The Mobile One project provides meals to people in need in the evenings and on week-ends. It is the first of its kind in Atlantic Canada. It operates a mobile soup kitchen program and a mobile food pantry program throughout Greater Moncton and Kent County. Mobile One Soup Kitchen currently provides from 100 to 150 meals per day during the winter months and 150 to 300 meals per day during the summer months.
A few months ago, I wrote about an event organized by Framework Foundation called Timeraiser. Molson is a founding sponsor and partner of the event, and I attended along with half a dozen Molson employees. See post: http://blog.molson.com/community/2008/04/07/timeraiser-toronto-raises-over-11000-hours/ A quick background: Timeraiser is an art auction, but Instead of bidding money on the the art, people are asked to bid their TIME which is then donated to a charitable organization of their choice….very cool idea. For this year’s Timeraiser in Toronto, Molson’s VLOG creator and CSR partner, ARC (Artists Raising Consciousness), filmed a short documentary showcasing the event — from conception, to planning, to execution. The film, a J.W. McConnell Family Foundation “Change in Action” film, shows the layers of a Timeraiser and how it’s moved to a national level. Timeriaser was founded by Anil Patel, a social innovator and executive director at Frameworks Foundation. Anil has been leading the organization since its inception in 2002, and through Timeraiser, he has found a way to build community investment and strength by bringing together non-profit and charitable organizations, local artists, students and young professionals and community-minded corporations. Congrats to Anil and his team on yet another successful Timeraiser. [youtube gwQ4mkMdpFg]
Minister Gerretsen at the Toronto Brewery with Molson Employees
It was a warm and enjoyable afternoon at Molson Brewery in Toronto when we were delighted to welcome Ontario’s Minister of the Environment, the Honourable John Gerretsen. I have had the pleasure of knowing John for over 25 years, dating back to his tenure as Kingston’s Mayor, and mine as a member of student government. Minister Gerretsen has a passion for his portfolio. After a quick greeting from our President Kevin Boyce our brewery Manager Wayne Arsenault and his team were very proud to showcase Molson and our efforts to protect our environment. Sebastien Charbonneau, our employees communications manager also rallied a number of employees together for a photo related to an energy conservation awareness campaign that ran in Toronto and all of our breweries across the country. Special thanks to Minister Gerretsen and his team for paying Molson a visit. His tour and interaction with our employees instills pride and awareness for all of us, about how important it is to do our part to protect the environment in which we work, live and play.

In this interview, Sebastien Charbonneau (Molson) talked about our blog which was (at that time) live for about a month. His comments and thoughts sparked some thoughts of my own….it’s now mid-July (which is scary…where did June and July go?), which means Molson in the Community has been up and running for about six months…. Is it time for a blog audit? Has the Molson Blog changed since Sebastien gave this interview?
Some questions and comparisons:
Do we have engaging authors?
I hope so! We started with one blogger and now have multiple Molson bloggers writing from across Canada
Do we have comments and create dialogue?
Perhaps not at the beginning, but as we learn and build relationships with other bloggers, we’re starting to see more chatter
Are we using innovative tools?
Well, we now use multiple tools to share and provide content…flickr, youtube, twitter, VLOGS…
Have our employees been engaged?
Many visit the site, but do they only read and comment if the info is local to them? Maybe.
Have the number of unique visits, page views and subscribers increased?
Yup
So after a quick audit of Molson blog…the conclusion: Have things changed? Definitely. Are we still learning? 100% yes. Can we improve? 100% yes.
What would you include in a blog audit?
