I’m looking forward to working with Laura Kulach who will be my mentee for the MolsonNational Mentoring program. Laura has a great opportunity to work with the Canadian National Sportsmen’s Showfor the summer of 2008. Part of Laura’s responsibility will be coordinating the Great Ontario Salmon Derby, as well as streamlining the Exhibitor process for the various Sportsmen’s Shows.
We, at Molson, are looking at how to further improve our energy efficiency and consequently reduce our greenhouse emissions. No matter how good corporate policies and practices look on paper, nothing can change without the active engagement of all employees from across the organization.Of course, as a professional communicator focused on employee communications, I am biased, but I strongly feel that we, as a company, must recognize how important it is to connect with staff, and get them involved in our efforts to become more environmentally conscious, and further reduce our energy consumption. Simply establishing a policy isn’t enough, not seeking employee understanding or feedback is recipe for failure. To make new practices part of “the business culture” we need effective communication that builds a sense of common purpose and helps individuals and teams to change their behavior is an important element. Yes but, what else? I’m looking at ideas and simple steps to help us engage Molson’s workforce in being more and more committed to the environment, both in words and actions! If you have opinions, ideas or suggestions please let me know, I’d like to engage in conversations about this topic right on this channel.
When something as obviously great and inspiring as EARTH HOUR comes along, you just don’t need to think about it too long, or have a series of meetings and discussions about it. Earth Hour is a wonderful effort that started in Sydney Australia last year and is gaining momentum around the globe. Molson is Proud to Play our Part by taking a look across our brewery network in Canada in Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, Moncton and St. John’s. Our brewery managers are assessing what actions we can take on March 29th to raise awareness and make a difference in reducing energy use. Molson will also be encouraging our employees from coast to coast to consider what they can do personally on the evening of March 29th to raise awarnress in their communities and make a difference in having an effect on climate change. Dave MacMullin from Molson was on hand for the event and presented a $5,000 donation to the Smokey Recreation Society for its ”Raise the Roof Fund”. Molson is the Screaming Eagles’ official beer partner.
Congratulations to Jennifer McLaughlin (right) and Darlene Sherman (left), winners of the Toque Tuesday Text Contest!
On Toque Tuesday, Molson added an extra bonus for those in the GTA who purchased a Toque or made a donation to Raising the Roof – a chance to win Raptors’ Tickets! Attached to the toques were instructions informing people to text “TOQUE” to Molson to have a chance to win Molson’s private suite for the February 27th Toronto Raptors vs. Minnesota game.
The winner was announced on Global TV Friday night. It was a combined effort for Jennifer and Darlene who purchased their toque on the corner of Jarvis St. and Charles. Darlene made the donation, and Jennifer sent in the text message.
