A Post by Marcy Robertson, YMCA Relationship Development Manager

Today’s gift to the YMCA Employment and Community Program was far more than money. Major corporations don’t often realize the power that they wield in bringing awareness and attention to programs like this. Molson enabled the YMCA Employment and Community Program to receive recognition, as well as some well-deserved funds.

This program (YMCA) creates 600 – 800 meals daily for needy Torontonians and provides training for some of Toronto’s future culinary genius’ that have had a rough start to their adulthood.

With the help of Molson and city Councillor Kyle Rae – who was alerted to this excellent initiative by Amir Remtulla, Director Government and Public Affairs Ontario and Atlantic Canada from Molson – this program not only received $20,000 but also received sincere interest from Kyle Rae in the future development of the program and the attention of a Canadian Press photographer.

Molson also brought a sense of pride to these future chefs. Giving money is fine – but showing up and talking one-on-one is the best.
